The sky was dark and rainy Wednesday, as Lynn Vessier Revere Nunez was laid to rest. The crowd of friends and Family, sat in somber silence as her flower-laden casket was carried to its final resting site.
The funeral service was held at Fielding Funeral Home in Covington, as a crowd of over 300 attended to bid farewell to the friend and co-worker they loved so dearly.
Nunez, a longtime court employee, was murdered in New Orleans this past weekend. "Lynn always had a smile for everybody," said Court Administrator Bob Tyler. "She was a fun person to be around. "Lynn was a fixture of the court and known and loved by a whole lot of people."
"One unidentified friend, sitting outside during the memorial service, reflected on the time Lynn tried her hand at dieting. "She showed up one day at her mom's house with five gallons of Blue Bell ice cream and proceeded to eat a gallon of it," she recalled.
Eddie Fielding, a friend of the Nunez family, quietly reflected on his memories of Nunez while workers were preparing the site where she would be laid to rest. "Lynn was a wonderful person, who will be missed dearly," Fielding said.
Vicky Mumm of the District Attorneys Office also expressed a sense of extreme loss in Lynn's death. "This is a big loss to the community," she said. "We will all miss her so much." Mumm told reporters that a memorial fund has been established to raise money for reward fund.
"Everybody from the judges to friends and family are donating money to catch Lynn's killer," Mumm said.
